Most drivers are on constant waivers however this beauty is never being sent down! She's a fade machine on auto pilot. A real set it and forget it. Surprisingly easy to hit despite it's smaller profile. An absolute bomber that I've hit 300 yards.
Yes, I recommend this product
This club is absolutely worth the purchase and having in your arsenal. I bought the 13.5 degree regular shaft version as a novelty (40 year anniversary of the original TM metal wood). I am so glad I did, because it is a weapon in my bag that has helped improve my game! I agree with the many reviews that praise this club as a driver replacement with distance and accuracy. Absolutely true! On average, at 14.2 degrees, I am hitting it to within 10-15 yards of my 12 degree M6 driver, and have matched its length on occasion. That said, it yields greater accuracy, a softer landing, and more confidence in certain situations. I love my M6 driver with custom shaft (EvenFlow Riptide CB 5.0 A 40G), so I am using the Original One Mini Driver as a 2 wood off the tee for long par 3 and narrow par 4 holes with confidence. I also hit it 15-20 yards longer than my SIM2 Max 16.5 HL 3 wood, although nothing is more accurate than that. I just don’t have a fast enough swing speed to make the most of my 3 wood. TaylorMade has done an outstanding job with this club and for me it is a significant value add. I love it—thanks TaylorMade!!
After suffering a shoulder injury and now at 60 years young I could no longer complete a full shoulder turn. Swing speed had also dropped from 100 to 92 and my stiff flex M6 driver was no longer as controllable. IÂ’ve now been playing the mini driver for twelve months and off the tee I can still drive around 230 metres but more importantly IÂ’m finding more fairways. I actually look forward to standing over the ball and having the confidence in this great little club. I would thoroughly recommend this club to anyone struggling with control and distance. I have the 11 1/2 degree version in regular flex shaft and it just suits my swing tempo perfectly. Thanks TaylorMade for a great product.
I love this as my driver. It reminds me of the driver I used to use when I was in my 20s. I like the shorter shaft and the smaller head. I just do not like the 460 CC drivers they offer now of days. I can hit it off of the turf if I need to. I usually do not though. I have a 4 wood for that. I love the sound it makes when I hit it pure and I usually hit it about 260 - 270 with roll. I did hit it 280 one time with the wind at my back. It is accurate and has a good distance for my tee shots. I was looking for the 11.5 version of it but alas you can only find that in left handed now. I am so glad I bought it.
Easy to Swing Great Feel Easy to Hit Twist Face I've had this club for 6 months - WOW!! Sweet spot contact yields up to 240 yards with this club. Thats pretty good distance imo for a 13.5 degree wood
I bought this without testing a few months ago - 13.5 degree and regular Mitsubishi shaft. I was looking for a replacement for a 3 wood to use on tight par 4's or short par 4's with doglegs. I wasn't real consistent off the tee with my 3 wood. I'm a 9 handicap and 62 years old. I still normally use a stiff flex, but couldn't find the 13.5 in a stiff at the time. My impressions after 3 months: First off, I love the look of this club, which is important, at least to me. It sets up beautifully and the matte carbon crown with blood red trim looks great. The adjustable hosel is a nice feature. I went with 13.5 because I like to play a fade, and taking it down a notch opens the face slightly. The Mitsubishi Diamana F Limited shaft is excellent. The regular flex took a while for me to adjust to, but I can match my M6 driver with its stiff flex Fujikura shaft on distance about 80% of the time. I do have a tendency to draw the Mini too much if I jump on it, due to the regular shaft. I just found a Mitsubishi F Limited shaft in stiff flex on fleabay and will give that a try with the Mini when I get it. I've read a lot of negative reviews of the Mini online and scratch my head. People just don't get this club, or maybe TM just didn't market it right. Most amateurs don't hit a 3 wood consistently straight off the tee, and usually struggle with it off the deck. It's actually comical to watch buddies who pull the 3 wood on the tee in order to find the fairway, and they blow it way right or left. When they pull the 3 wood in the fairway, I cringe, as they hit low screamers, usually way right. The Mini is way longer off the tee and straighter than a 3 wood. Most people wouldn't hit it off a tight lie in the fairway, but I don't see it designed that way, at least for most amateurs, and that's where I think TM went wrong. A 5 wood is plenty long and much easier to hit consistently off the deck for most amateurs. Finally, I am particular as to the sound of a metal wood at impact. I read reviews of people saying they thought this was too muted. For me, that's perfect. I'm not a fan of the loud, metallic sound of many of today's drivers and fairway woods. TaylorMade usually gets this aspect right. The Mini sounds great - a low "crack" at impact, reminding me of my old persimmon woods. So overall for me, this club is a winner. It replaces the 3 wood for a more consistent and yet longer club off the tee for those times when a 3 wood off the tee is a smarter choice. It's the "Original One" on steroids.
The best driver IÂ’ve ever used. IÂ’ve always struggled with driver. This is more accurate and goes further than any driver IÂ’ve ever played. I have the 13.5 and can easily hit it off the deck.
Purchased this club about one month ago, very disappointed. I use M4 fairway woods and they are great, this mini driver has a very dull sound at impact and awfull feel.
Bought the 11.5 stiff recently, fantastic club. Every shot either in the fairway or not far from it. Amazing, my GBB epic driver was in the woods every other shot, I had no idea where it would go. This club goes just as far too. Why on earth did Taylormade cancel it after only one season. Even at 11.5 the balls flies high. No matter where I hit on the club face it goes in play, just a loss of distance on miss hits. Love this club, never going back to a 460 driver ever.
When i started golf as a junior i was brought up using the Spoon (2 Wood) as i grew older the 2 wood disappeared and the driver as we knew it evolved in its many different ways. Sadly for me no matter how hard i tried i just could not get the hang of the driver - so with the reintroduction as i see it of the 2 wood (mini driver) i was so relieved. I had the SLDR and the Aeroburner and they were a great way to get back my confidence. We now have the Original One Mini Driver and it is great of the tee, the siarway and the light rough - i have it set n 12 degrees, I would recommend this to golfers of all standards - especially those that have problems with the driver.
