Spider ZT Max: The Bigger, Bolder Addition to the Spider ZT Family

If you've been putting with the original Spider ZT since we released it last summer, you already know what the platform does well. The toe-up orientation, the way it soles behind the ball, the incredible stability, and low-torque performance all make Spider ZT one of the most talked-about putter releases of 2025.
Spider ZT Max takes that same design philosophy and gives it more room to breathe.
The head is bigger. The profile at address is wider and more visually substantial. And the engineering underneath — the aerospace-grade aluminum body framed by four heavy corner weights — now has even more real estate to work with when it comes to distributing mass to the perimeter. If the original Spider ZT was about doing a lot with a little, Spider ZT Max is about doing even more with, well, more.
Everything that defined the original Spider ZT carries forward. The shaft still bores toe-ward near the CG with 2° of lean and 34mm of onset, producing that distinctive toe-up orientation at address. The sole shaping, which was developed around this hosel setup, is designed to sit flush against the putting surface regardless of how you position yourself over the ball. And the black Pure Roll™ insert, built from a combination of Surlyn and aluminum, still delivers that soft, controlled feel at impact with 45°-angled grooves promoting clean forward roll from the jump.
You’ll also notice the True Path™ Alignment with precision-milled lines exactly the width of a golf ball, with a white sightline in the center to help frame the putter face squarely at address, with the ball exactly in the center. Aim small, miss smaller.
Three configurations. Same ones you know from the Spider ZT lineup. Here's how each one plays out in the Max chassis.
This is the entry point and the purest read on what the Spider ZT Max platform offers. Available in 33", 34", and 35" for both right and left-handed players, it pairs the KBS CT Putter 120 Stepless shaft with a SuperStroke Off-Axis Tour 2.0 grip.
The head tips the scales at 379g, which reflects the additional material in the larger body compared to the original Spider ZT released last year. Loft sits at 3.5° with a 70° lie angle. What you notice first at address is the expanded sightline and the way the bigger head frames the ball. There's more visual confidence before you even start the putter back. For players who already favor the forgiveness of a toe-up mallet and want that feeling amplified, this is the most straightforward path to get there.
The Spider ZT Max Counterbalance model is where things start to get interesting from a setup perspective. Available in 36" and 38" lengths for both right and left-handed players, it's built around a 155g KBS Custom Graphite shaft and an elongated SuperStroke grip with two options available depending on how much counterbalance effect you're after. The 36" pairs with the SuperStroke 2.0 XL at 13.75", while the 38" steps up to the SuperStroke 3.0 at 17".
The idea behind counterbalance is straightforward: by moving weight higher into the grip end of the club, you reduce the amount of work your hands and forearms are doing during the stroke. Grip pressure drops. The smaller muscles quiet down. And the stroke starts to feel less like something you're steering and more like something that's happening on its own.
Head weight bumps up to 398g to account for the counterbalance system, and loft and lie remain consistent with the Spider ZT Max Standard at 3.5° and 70° respectively. If you've ever felt like your hands get too active on the greens, especially under pressure, this configuration is worth a serious look.
The Spider ZT Max Long is the most specialized offering in the Spider ZT Max family. It comes in a 46" configuration available for right-handed players. The KBS Custom Graphite shaft weighs in at 210g, and it's paired with a SuperStroke Split Pistol grip that creates a distinct separation between the upper and lower hand positions.
At 472g, the head is the heaviest in the lineup by a significant margin, and that's by design. The additional mass is calibrated for the longer shaft, ensuring the putter swings with a tempo and rhythm that feels intentional rather than unwieldy. Lie angle jumps to 79° which is a reflection of the more upright address position that comes with the added length, and loft drops slightly to 3°.
This is a configuration built for players who want to fundamentally change the relationship between their hands and their putting stroke. The length and weight distribution shift the workload to the shoulders and arms, and the Split Pistol grip reinforces that dynamic. It's not for everyone, but for the right player, it can be a gamechanger on the greens.

The Spider ZT Max line doesn't reinvent the Spider ZT platform. It scales it up. Bigger head, wider profile, more MOI, and the same three configurations that give you a real choice in how you want to get the ball in the hole.
