Canada's 6th unofficial major is set to tee off. The Ottawa Hunt and Golf Club is hosting the CP Women’s Open for the third time, once in 2008 and again in 2017. Scores of -11 and -13 were needed to claim the trophy in those years, respectively. The event is being held for the first time since 2019 due to the pandemic. Let's look in as Team TaylorMade prepares for a week up north.
Home Sweet Home
A few weeks after her major win at the Amundi Evian Championship, Brooke Henderson is back on home soil and looking to win this tournament for the second time. The first came back in 2018 when she won by 4 shots and finished the week 21-under-par.
Brooke's hometown of Smith Falls is only an hour away from The Ottawa Hunt and Golf Club, and as an honourary member, she’s hoping her course experience and the patriotic fans will help push her to finish Sunday in the top spot.
Brooke switched to the TaylorMade TP5x and Tour Preferred glove earlier this year. Since the change, she has picked up two victories, adding to her Canadian record with most Professional wins. She's still just 24 years of age. For more on the change and her second Major victory, read our story here.
Sung Hyun Park is defending this week at The Ottawa Hunt and Golf Club. Last time the tournament was held here (2017), Park took home the win with a final score of 13-under-par. She hopes those good memories will help her repeat her success from last time around. Sung Hyun Park has recently switched from the Stealth Plus to the Stealth driver for more spin and forgiveness off the tee.
Canadian Connections
In the field this week from Toronto, Ontario, Rebecca Lee-Bentham is looking to make a splash in front of the Canadian fans. Rebecca is teeing up with the newly launched TP5 Canada edition golf ball. The TP5 not only includes Tour Flight Dimple Pattern and 5-Layer Construction, but also a Canadian leaf. For more on the TP5 Canada edition ball, click here.
Best of luck to Rebecca this week as she contends for her national title.
Another player in this week's field with a Canadian tie is Lily Muni He. Lily lived in Vancouver for eight years while she was growing up and played on both the Canadian Junior Golf Association and Maple Leaf Junior Tour events. She is very happy to be back in Canada for this week.
