Brooke Henderson nipped her final approach on the par-4 18th at Lake Nona Golf and Country Club with her P-790 PW to just 12 feet or so, prompting Brittany Henderson to say afterwards – “That was so good.”
The newest member of Team TaylorMade, cruised to a four-shot win to start the 2023 LPGA Tour campaign at the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions.
From ball to all, and right into the winner’s circle.
Henderson, who hit more than 71 percent of her fairways and 80 percent of her greens this week in Orlando – numbers made more impressive given the windswept Sunday – was on it with every TaylorMade club in her bag.
“I think all parts of the game were working really well this week, which that doesn't always happen, so it was really nice to benefit from that and be able to hoist this trophy, Off the tee today maybe the drive wasn't as good as the rest of the week, but it was still very consistent. Ball-striking gave myself a lot of good birdie looks, and especially the first three days made a lot of putts.”Brooke Henderson

Henderson continued to dial in her clubs with the Tour team up until the week prior to the Tournament of Champions, trying to get the lofts on her irons just right. Even with a last-minute arrival of her set, she was able to showcase a new side of her game thanks to the incredible control with her P790 irons and Milled Grind 3 wedges.
“I feel like a lot of things have been working really well, especially the wedges. Feels really nice to be able to feel aggressive, and they're holding really well, which is sort of a new thing for me,” said Henderson on Friday after shooting a tournament-low 66.
Henderson has long said she spends her off-seasons often working on her short game and especially her putting. But with the Spider GT centre-shafted putter in her bag this week, Henderson was fourth in Putting Average – one of her best-ever weeks on the greens.
“I really love the feel of it, My coach, my dad, my sister, they all said the same thing: ‘This putter feels really good.’ Over the off-season just working with it a bit I was making a lot of putts, so a lot of confidence, which is a really nice feeling for me.”Brooke Henderson

The TaylorMade team worked closely with Henderson and her team at the end of 2022 to fit her into a set perfect for her swing and landed on plenty of new gear including the Stealth 2 Plus metalwoods to help Henderson re-gain some distance she lost in 2022. Henderson was fourth at the season-opener in Driving Distance (in fact, three of the top-4 distance leaders from the Tournament of Champions were all members of Team TaylorMade including another new member, Nelly Korda, along with Charley Hull).
Henderson said the transition into TaylorMade was smooth and she couldn’t be happier with her first result of the year.
“I feel like the team at TaylorMade did a really good job of what I was playing before and trying to match it or fix some of the things that I wanted to improve on from my other set. So, they did a great job,” said Henderson.
The LPGA Tour now takes a monthlong break before it kicks back up again in late February, and Henderson said she’ll take this off time to continue to dial in all aspects of her new set. However, the first time out with them worked pretty darn well.
“I'm really happy I made the switch to TaylorMade,” said Henderson with a big smile, “and hopefully the success just continues.”
