The Best Things We Saw On Tour in 2023

Team TaylorMade's content team has traveled the world over the last nine months following our athletes and tour representatives as they put in the work to get ready to compete against the best golfers on the planet. We've been there to document range sessions, practice rounds, club builds, product testing and even pizza reviews.

As we sit and wait for the 2023 Ryder Cup in Italy, we got the itch for golf content and figured there was no better way to scratch it than looking back on the best things we saw this season during our travels on the PGA TOUR, LPGA TOUR and DP World Tour.

Of course, we start with the GOAT.

THE TIGER EFFECT AT RIVIERA

When Tiger Woods plays golf, it's just different. I know you know that, but to give you another example of how Tiger differs from everyone else, let's talk about his range session on Tuesday at The Genesis Invitational.

We were amongst hundreds of media, content creators, tournament workers and even players that were standing on the range all day waiting for Tiger to arrive. When he did, it was like The Beatles came to town. Mind you, this is a practice day where fans are not allowed on the grounds and there were 100+ people standing behind Tiger on the back of the range watching him hit golf balls. The Tiger effect is real.

Once we got on the course with Tiger on Wednesday morning, he debuted his P·770 3-iron and in Tiger fashion was ripping stingers all over Riviera. Sound up!

HATLESS RORY HINTS AT THE FUTURE

When we arrived on site at the Genesis Scottish Open at the Renaissance Club, we noticed something we rarely see. A hatless Rory. After witnessing the four-time major champion take a few swings, we knew he was all business.

After taking a glance at his bag, we noticed something different. It was officially 2-iron SZN. After flighting a few down the range, Rory called his own shot and said he was going to hit a stinger. As you heard above, stung it did.

While it wasn't entirely a stinger on Sunday, on the 18th hole McIlroy relied on that P·760 2-iron to hit an out of this world approach shot onto the green to clinch his winning birdie putt in dramatic fashion. There was no better view of it than this fan's who captured McIlroy's TP5x coming right at him.

THE SOOTHING SOUNDS OF A P·790 BUILD

There's nothing better than watching our tour team build golf clubs. True masters at work. When we arrived on site at Hoylake for The Open this year, Collin Morikawa was amongst many Team TaylorMade athletes that wanted to test the new P·790 as a potential driving iron option off the tee on the firm Open championship conditions.

Tour rep Sam Day fired up this build on the Monday of The Open and it went straight into Collin's bag.

NELLY JOINS TEAM TAYLORMADE

As if Team TaylorMade's roster wasn't already loaded with golf legends, Nelly Korda decided to take her talents to TaylorMade and we had a front row seat to one of the smoothest swings in all of golf.

This year Nelly's bag included:

There was nothing more pure than Nelly sending those clubs around Pebble Beach ahead of the Women's US Open.

ALIGNING THE SHUFFLE

Driving range drills have become all the rage this season. World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler has put his own inventive spin on swing plane practice by having TaylorMade Wade jam two alignment sticks together. The visual is just out of this world.

GOLF ASMR

THE DOD QUEEN: BROOKE HENDERSON

Those of you who are big on social media know about the DOD King who rips TaylorMade drivers exclusively off the deck. May we introduce you to Brooke Henderson aka the DOD Queen. Brooke showed off her DOD skills at the LPGA Drive On Championship this spring in Arizona.

INSIDE COLLIN'S PRACTICE ROUTINE AT TOURNAMENTS

TOMMY'S VIRAL BLOCK DRILL

Tommy Fleetwood is the OG of viral drills. We've seen him do his yoga block + alignment stick drill with his P·7TW iron and TP5x pix golf ball many times this year and finally asked him to explain the madness to us. Here's how Tommy broke it down:

US OPEN CONDITIONS STRIKE AGAIN

Every year at the US Open someone in golf social media takes a golf ball and drops it into the rough showing off how thick and challenging the rough will be in competition. We set out to be different and searched LACC on the Monday of US Open week to find another potential viral characteristic of the historic golf course.
