TaylorMade Gear

At TaylorMade, we pride ourselves on pushing the envelope of what’s possible and constantly strive to help golfers like you play better and have more fun. We aren’t afraid to ask ourselves difficult questions and don’t back down from a challenge.

When beginning the development process of our next generation of P·Series irons, our engineer and design teams wanted to dig deep and identify the key factors in bringing the highest performing irons to our consumers.

Hundreds of hours of design iterations, testing, and Tour feedback resulted in the all-new P·770ä and P·7CBä irons. Whether you’re chasing down your club championship or trying to get your handicap to single digits, P·770 and P·7CB irons are designed to deliver unparalleled player performance, feel, and consistency.

Let’s take an in-depth look at each of these irons to see how their tech and design features can help you take your game to the next level.

P·770 IRONS – PROVEN CONSISTENCY

As a skilled golfer, you know that consistency is key to playing your best. When it comes to your irons, you need them to not only perform, they need to feel pure, look great, and give you exacting feedback.

That’s why we’ve designed these players irons with a modern forged construction. Each iron in the P·770 lineup is fine-tuned to be more forgiving and better feeling, while also delivering exacting sound, responsiveness and feedback.

We’ve done a lot of work to fine-tune the feel of the new P·770. This is the ideal iron for the player that needs some forgiveness and performance benefits, but doesn’t want to sacrifice feel or control. This is our most forgiving, best feeling P·770 to date.
Matt Bovee, Global Category Director – Irons and Wedges

Looking down at the P·770 irons, you’ll appreciate the clubhead profile. A thinner top line is complemented by a compact overall head shape that inspires confidence. The leading edge has been redesigned to help ensure consistent turf interaction for reliable shot shaping.

Our FLTD CG™ and precision milled face and grooves deliver consistent launch and spin from the bottom of the bag to the top. The longer irons launch high while the shorter irons are designed to come out low with plenty of spin for maximum shot control. You’ll also benefit from meticulous mass optimization and an updated tungsten weight in the long irons to increase both launch and forgiveness.

P·770 irons are designed to give you all the performance benefits P·Series irons are known for, but in a clean, compact design that inspires confidence.

These irons come stock with the Dynamic Golf Mid 115 shaft and Golf Pride Z-grip

P·7CB Irons – Pure Precision

Pure precision and consistent control. That’s precisely what we’ve designed P·7CB irons to deliver.

The ideation of P·7CB irons was largely the result of Tour player testing, feedback and exhaustive analysis. In 2024, Rory McIlroy won with the P·7CB 4-iron in play at the Zurich Classic and Wells Fargo Championship.

Collin Morikawa found success with the P·7CB 4-iron in three consecutive top-five finishes at the PGA Championship, the Charles Schwab Challenge and The Memorial Tournament. In addition to his P·7CB 4-iron, Morikawa added a full set of P·7CB irons 5-PW for the Scottish Open where he finished T4 and played them at the Open Championship as well. Tommy Fleetwood also played the P·7CB 3-iron at the Scottish and British Open.

Based on what our engineers learned from working with our Tour pros, Staff professionals, and through amateur player tests, P·7CB irons are designed for golfers that demand the purest possible feel, maximum shot-making capability, and consistency.

What drives the P·7CB consistency equation are optimized perimeter weighting and co-forged tungsten. These design features make P·7CB not only incredibly stable, they allow for a variety of shot shapes and trajectories as well.

We designed the P·7CB with the better player in mind.  In working with these players directly they told us, ‘give me precision, give me forgiveness, give me consistency, but do it in a compact head shape.’  The new P·7CB delivers a combination of feel and forgiveness in compact shape beyond anything TaylorMade has created in the past.
Matt Bovee, Global Category Director – Irons and Wedges

Aesthetically, P·7CB takes on the look of a players iron. In the address position, you’ll appreciate the thin top line and compact blade length. The overall profile is clean and meant to give you the confidence you need to consistently execute solid shots.

The advanced sole cambers and progressive bounce of P·7CB facilitate consistent and reliable turf interaction.

Each P·7CB iron is Compact Grain Forged and undergoes 2,000 tons of pressure to create the purest 1025 soft carbon steel possible. As a result of this rigorous process, P·7CB irons deliver exceptional feel and feedback for golfers seeking exact control with their iron play.

Just like P·770, P·7CB clubfaces and grooves are precision milled. Coupled with a constant CG throughout the set, golfers benefit from knowing each shot is going to launch and spin consistently, allowing them to aim small and miss small.

P·7CB irons are available stock with the Dynamic Golf Mid 115 shaft and Golf Pride Z-grip.

There’s a lot to digest when it comes to talking about P·770 and P·7CB irons. To help you make a more informed decision about which irons might be best for your game, let’s make life a little simpler with a checklist of how your ball striking tendencies align with each iron.

  • If you strike the ball out of the center of the face consistently but still desire an added layer of forgiveness, P·770 irons are a great choice.
  • If you’re an elite ball striker that prioritizes workability and control, P·7CB will deliver the performance benefits you expect.
  • Maybe you’re confident in your short irons, but struggle to hit your long irons consistently. If so, you might consider playing the more forgiving P·770 in the top of your bag and P·7CB in the middle and at the bottom. You can customize your own set of irons on the TaylorMade website.

P·770 and P·7CB irons are the newest releases within the P·Series iron lineup. They represent a seamless blend of design and tech that have been hallmarks of the P·Series line, and new features that are designed to improve iron performance and consistency for you, the player that demands the best from your equipment.
