If you’re an avid golfer, you know that nothing beats the feeling of taking your new driver out for its first round. Maybe you hit a few different heads in the simulator or on the range, but ultimately you decided this driver is the one for you and you can’t wait to get to the first tee.
At TaylorMade, we know that feeling all too well. Every time we get our hands on something new, it’s like Christmas morning. The recent launch of Qi35 drivers was no different!
But one mistake we see a lot of golfers make is not getting properly fitted for their driver. Years of state-of-the-art research, testing and design have taught us that in order for golfers like you to get the most out of your game, it’s imperative to get properly fitted for your equipment, especially your driver. Failure to do so can have devastating consequences for your score, performance, and overall enjoyment out on the course.
Stay with us until the end of this article as we discuss the top three reasons you should get fit for a Qi35 driver and go in-depth about how the first-of-their-kind Qi35 SelectFit heads have given fitting a new face.

Historically, driver fittings have been executed by manually putting stickers on the face to track data points that show up on a launch monitor. As you might expect however, the human element of placing stickers on the face fails to ensure that each sticker is equidistant from the center where it needs to be to provide accurate data. Even mere millimeters off-center can skew data points and impact the quality and accuracy of your fitting.
To further improve accuracy and efficiency of the fitting process, we’ve turned driver fitting upside down by creating the first launch monitor enabled fitting heads. For the first time ever, reflective fitting markers are built directly into every Qi35 SelectFit driver face and will be available at all TaylorMade experiential events and retail fitting locations giving you easy access to this groundbreaking technology.
“Qi35 SelectFit heads help us first understand centeredness of strike from one club to another. Second, we’re able to glean an in-depth understanding of how golfers deliver the clubface to the ball. Being able to capture both these data points with an unseen level of accuracy through built-in fitting markers allows us to gain a complete picture of a golfer’s specific clubhead, shaft and weighting needs.”Duane Anderson, TaylorMade Master Club Fitter
The built-in fitting markers provide the most accurate face delivery and impact information possible, allowing fitters to fully optimize the technology of Qi35 drivers exactly to your specific needs.
But there’s still more to the story. The use of fitting markers also allows us to unlock another level of data. We’re talking specifically about closure rate which is a measurement of how much the face rotates or closes through impact. This next level of information allows our Experiential Reps to dial in your shaft tip stiffness as well as driver head configuration, adding yet another element of accuracy to your fitting.
Qi35 SelectFit heads are compatible with both Foresight’s GCQuad and Trackman launch monitors.

In the modern game, there’s no shortage of different heads and shafts to choose from. In fact, trying to decide on your own which ones are best for your game can be overwhelming.
But TaylorMade makes the process easy with MyFittingExperience (MFE). During a Qi35 fitting, your TaylorMade Experiential Rep will utilize MFE software to track all your shots. Based on the data they collect, the software will make shaft, head and weighting recommendations.
For a look at the level of detail that goes into an MFE fitting, check out the video below where Chris Trott fits Grant Horvat for a Qi35 driver.

I don’t know about you, but I’ve been through plenty of driver fittings where it seems like I endlessly bang balls to the point I get tired. What I’ve learned is that the fitting is rendered useless at this point; you start to fall into bad habits, and you simply don’t swing the club like you normally do when you’re worn out.
Qi35 SelectFit driver fittings are structured for maximum efficiency by critically analyzing each shot you hit – there’s no such thing as a wasted swing. Within the first three to five swings, your Experiential Rep will have baseline data that will allow them to start formulating your shaft, head and weighting profile. From there, only a few more swings might be required to fine-tune each component of your driver.
Whereas some driver fittings can take up what seems like a healthy chunk of the day, we’ve found that Qi35 driver fittings can be completed in as little as 25 minutes.
In short, the MFE process and Qi35 SelectFit drivers deliver on three fronts. They take the guesswork out of choosing the right head and shaft combo for your game, they capture additional levels of precise data, and they cut down on the amount of swings you need to make and take a lot less time.
